The Montana Historical Society began a fund raising campaign in the mid-1970’s to raise funds to acquire Charles M. Russell art work, specifically his masterpiece painting, When The Land Belonged To God. One part of that campaign was to sell a collectible copy of the Jim Bridger Hawken rifle in their collection.
